There will come an autumn for everyone where they’ll wonder what they should do with their life, what they are supposed to do, what their goals are,or whether or not they’re walking the right and wanted path as they’ve always wished for. For some, roaming through the wide sea might be challenging and fun, but for some, they believe that someone, or something being their ally, acts as their hand who will one day push them to the maximum capacity needed, a mentor, I meant.

When I mentioned “mentor” there might actually be a high chance where you visualize it as a guru, or a teacher. Well, honestly similar, but different.

There’s a wide spectrum when it comes to mentorship. Informally loose mentor mentee relationship, structural, and maybe something like far-away observance. Despite this, how important is having a mentor in your life when you’re reaching for your goal?

As a writer myself, I would say it all depends back on you. It’s right inside your heart. Maybe the mentor that you’ve been seeking for have always been by your side, which is inside you, since one never knows what potential one holds until a trigger is pulled.

But on the other side, we have people who believe mentorship is an important aspect of growth. Here are some benefits and importance of mentorship that you might not realize:

  1. Guidance
Having a mentor can be parabled as having a map. They are able to guide you to the path that you’re wary and unsure of, they’ll be able to teach you from the experience they’ve gone through and they will guide you so you won’t fall into the same hole again.
  2. Tracker
Once someone becomes a mentor to a mentee, they will surely feel responsible of their mentee and will always want the best for their mentee, which will lead them to keeping track of your progress and NEVER let you slack off (unless they realize you’re on your burnt out phase, for sure) Hustle, Hustle, Hustle, they say.
  3. Not Destructive, but Constructive
Mentor’s job is to help you grow from a novice to a professional, at the very least, it’s their duty to help you grow from 0 to 1. They will always give you constructive feedback and encourage you to do better even when you’re a step behind the others, and they will never destroy the spirit and ambition that is burning inside you. They are here to construct, not destruct, no matter how harsh the wording might be.
  4. Network
Not only mentors help mentee turn little Steven Rogers to Captain America, they will also help you to engage with newer people. By way of illustration, You’ll maybe get to meet Tony Stark, Natasha, Hawkeye, Captain Marvel, etc. Who knows! What I’m trying to convey is, they will help you expand your circle with the intention of helping you for your future.

Upon going on your journey in life, you will come across a mentor that really sticks in your heart, someone who you really look up to, and someone you respect to the point where you want to learn from that person.

If I have to share a bit of my personal story, a few months ago I encountered someone that I look up very highly to. She was an amazingly wonderful person who has the attitude of a mentor that would like to share about whatever she’s capable of. After being so amazed by how amazing she is, I decided to email her and told her that I very much want to be taught by her and to be mentored by her, she gladly accept me and help me to influence the society into a better place and not only that she help me to grow as a better person.

Another example is one of my great friends, the owner of the IG account @SuccessFoundation who went from 0 to almost 1M followers by inspiring people and giving people motivation towards success, just as he thrives for it. He went from being someone’s mentee into a mentor now. (Executive Mafia Academy)

Last but not least, Believe in yourself. You are capable of anything you wish to do. Sure, a mentor is a cherry on top, but truthfully, All you need is the courage to hit the pedal.
